Having rode the 29er and Fat Max, and seeing just how awesome they are…I can honestly say, that I can see why the Cross Max is the best selling and most popular model Kickbike has. It is just an all around masterpiece. On and off road, it is smooth as butter. It is much smaller and lighter than the Fat Max and 29er and is a bit more nimble in tight turns. I have a lot of fun on this guy! The Fat Max and 29er have an intimidating presence…the Cross Max is a bit more of a Ninja…under the radar but extremely capable.

I got the CrossMax 20D a few weeks ago for myself and my Borzoi, Ira. It came nicely packaged and was fairly simple to put together. I have never put a bike together, but did it by myself in about 45 minutes. After teaching Ira some basic mushing commands and ensuring that his Non-Stop Freemotion harness was a perfect fit for him we set off. I can officially say that after the first ride we were totally hooked! We have now logged several rides–and I am totally in love with my Kickbike and feel a more enriched connection with my sweet boy. I didn’t think it was possible to love Ira more…BUT I DO! He is an amazing teammate. As we both gain strength and experience I look forward to getting faster and increasing our endurance. I can’t wait to see where our Kickbike adventures take us!

The good: this (the cross max) is a sturdy scooter. The shocks do a reasonable job of soaking up terrain. The disc brakes are very good. Assembly is not too difficult, although I strongly recommend you view the (excellent) you-tube video. The written instructions are not very good.
The bad: I needed to replace the stem riser with an adjustable one for comfort’s sake. The recommended tug arm is attached with a U-clamp and can twist badly if the dog pulls hard to the side. A welded D-ring would have been better – I ended up using a O-ring attached with poly webbing to the handle bar stem (you can buy that at most mushing supply vendors). The recommended tug arm does a very good job of keeping the tug out of the front wheel.
    This is a nicer
